It’s been a while since I had a finished project to post, but this week’s project is probably one of the cutest things I’ve crocheted in a while. Meet Rosie the Balloon Elephant! by MelloStitchesCo

This little elephant is made using tiny chenille yarn, a 3mm hook and a paperclip. The pattern was relatively easy to make and there is not much sewing involved, I would peg it at an advanced beginner into intermediate pattern as it mainly uses single crochet but when you attach the legs together it can be a bit complicated.

The head was also quite straightforward. Initially thought that the trunk was going to be quite fiddly considering how small the magic circle was and how faffy the tiny chenille yarn can be, but that worked up fine and turned out really cute too.

Whilst initially the ears looked to be on the more complex side, they were also pretty straight forward. (let the lesson of this project be, don’t be intimidated by the way something looks, trust the process and follow the instructions step by step.) The first ear has some unusual lines running down them but this was complete user error and my inexperiance with the yarn type (always seem to struggle with the chenile yarn!) however this mistake doesn’t detract from the final piece in the slightest.

Assembly was also pretty easy, and clearly explained and depicted in the pattern, it didn’t take long to have everything sewn together and looking cute. I would reccomend following the instructions and attaching the ears AFTER sewing on the head. I missed this the first time round so had the ears on a little weird. After some deliberation I did unpick them and sew them back on in the right place and am very happy with that choice.

All in all this is a really cute pattern and one that isn’t too intimindating when you don’t overthink it too much! Really looking forward to my colleague’s reaction when she finds it on her desk. If you have a friend or family member who likes elephants this pattern is It is absolutely worth a go! MelloStitchesCo got this spot on in terms of cuteness factor. Highly reccomended!
