Finished Pattern – Leggy Froggy!

My little bug-eyed froggy

This week’s pattern review is the Leggy Froggy pattern by Crochet by Karina. This was my first test pattern I had participated in on Ribblr and oh my, I’m in love! so much so, that I made a second one!

We all stand together! (Let me know if you’re old enough to get that reference!)

This pattern is perfect for beginners, it’s clear, well written and takes all of about an hour to complete (if that, and I’m not the fastest at crochet!). Honestly, if it wasn’t for the fact I was using ceinile yarn, it would have probably been quicker, but being quite unused to this kind of fluffy yarn, I kept loosing my sititches which made it harder. That said, this is no reflection on the pattern, this is a complete user error issue by being unfamiliar with my materials!

The other thing that became a user error issue was my ability, or lack there of, to install the eyes! Bug eyed is probably the best way to describe attempt 1, got them in the right place in attempt number 2! But for some reason, I still like attempt 1 better, probaby because of it’s wonkyness!

Using the Tiny Chinelle yarn by hobbycraft (UK) and the corresponding crochet hook (3mm), you get a really cute little soft fuzzy froggy around 3″ in length (not including the legs) that is perfectly palm-sized and would look good on someone’s desk. Using a thicker yarn, you would find yourself very quickly making a larger frog toy in very little time. Although any size froggy would be perfect for that last minute gift for childeren aged 1 to 100! (honestly, my husband has requested one in orange so now the hunt for bright orange dk weight chenille yarn has begun… although it might be fun to buy a super chunky varient and make a large one for him. He may struggle to put it on his car dashboard mind!) This is also a great pattern for those people who sell at craft fairs. It would not take long to build up a fair bit of stock, especially if you can crochet quite quickly!

It isn’t easy being Green!

This is a free pattern from Crochet by Karina so if you don’t already have a Ribblr account (not sponsored, but I’m open to offers Ribblr!) This pattern would be worth a sign up (accounts are also free!) to have a go! what have you got to loose?

Ribbit!
